I'll be going through the different materials used in the image above, you can download the materials by clicking on the sphere of each shader.

For all these materials, it's VERY important that you set your ambiance intensity to Zero. Otherwise you wont get the rich black, inked look. Also be sure to set your toon shading method to Toon.

In the Gradient, please note that the shades on the far right represent the color when light is shining on it, far left represents the color as light fades away. For best results, only light your models with 1 light each otherwise the results may look bad.

Leather Pants

This first material is made up of 3 shades, The far right shade is a Object Color percentage of 25%, then switches to jet black, then to another percentage of 50%.

The tabs are set close together to give hard lines between shades.

Spandex Shirt

This is very similar to the leather, except the tabs are set slightly farther apart to make the transitions smoother. The far left shade is also brighter, a color percentage of 75%.

Dark Metal Boots

Also like leather, hard lines between shades but with a much brighter rim shade. Color percentage of 90-100%.

Light Metal Belt

For the belt shader I wanted to place a strip of color in between the black to make it look more shiny, I think it turned out well.

Silvery Metal Arm

The other materials let you pick a surface color and it would adjust to it, but this material will always turn out the same no matter the surface color, the shades use Color instead of percentages.
